The Sushi Spinnery
Dave risks his life to get the best fish he can for his sushi business. The Sushi Spinnery isn’t as stressful as trying to kill a shark. But it does put pressure on the player to figure out how to make their sushi bar a must-go.
The Sushi Spinnery is a game made by Kairosoft, which has a long history of making a lot of management simulations. The goal of the game is to make a menu that customers will like by combining ingredients in new ways. Players can also add different things to the restaurant to make it more interesting and put certain dishes into contests.
Bear And Breakfast
At the start of Dave the Diver, the player finds out that Dave was just a regular diver until he was asked to run a sushi restaurant. This is kind of like the idea behind the cozy management game Bear and Breakfast. In which a bear is in charge of fixing up and running an inn in the forest.
Hank the Bear and his friends run the bed and breakfast. They try to bring in people and grow the business. But Bear and Breakfast has a much deeper story. And one part of it is that Hank finds out about some secrets that are hidden in the woods.
PlateUp
One thing that makes Dave the Diver stand out is that it has a roguelite element when it comes to exploring and catching under water. But when you just focus on running the business, these things become less important. PlateUp is a roguelite game where you run restaurants in places that are made by a set of rules.
Players have full power over a single restaurant. Where they can choose a menu and decorate it as they see fit. If they can stay in service for 15 days. They will be able to go to a new restaurant with new choices and challenges. PlateUp can also be played with up to three other people.
Moonlighter
Dave the Diver has a small amount of combat, but Moonlighter, a game about being an adventurous shopkeeper, is a better choice for people who want an RPG with more combat and management simulation aspects.
The player will have to go through hard dungeons to try to get valuable rewards after setting up shop near a portal to another world. The player can then sell these things in the shop to make money. Which they can then use to get stronger and take on harder challenges.
Abzu
Swimming around in the ocean and catching fish can be more relaxing than it seems at first. But Abzu might be interesting for people who don’t want to catch fish or who want a break from all the harpooning and want to see the sights.
In Geometry Dash Subzero about exploring the ocean, players swim with different kinds of sea creatures in calm settings. Their main goal is to swim deeper into the ocean. Learn about each of the fish around the player while also finding the remains of an ancient society.
Overcooked! All You Can Eat
During restaurant service in Dave the Diver, players must keep customers happy by topping off their tea, delivering sushi on time, and doing other chores. All of this balancing is like the game Overcooked! All You Can Eat is one of the most crazy games for managing a kitchen.
This is a level-based game that brings together the first two games in the series. It can be played with up to four cooks per level. In each level, the goal is to keep making dishes for people while also dealing with problems that pop up along the way.
Dredge
Dredge is another 2023 independent game that is all about fishing. It doesn’t have anything to do with running a sushi restaurant, though. And unlike Dave the Diver, which is mostly funny, this adventure game has a Lovecraftian horror twist and a more serious tone as a whole.
In Dredge, players take control of a boat and try to find different kinds of fish that they can sell for money. But when players go out at night, they will find some strange fish that will require them to learn more about the ocean. All of this is done while finishing quests to move the story along and improving the ship. So it can go on longer trips and catch bigger fish.
